Communities In Schools® (CIS®), the nation’s leading provider of K-12 school-based integrated student supports, is celebrating the achievements of high school seniors as they transition into the next phase of their lives – whether it's entering the workforce, serving in the military, or pursuing higher education.

This spring, the organization will honor students with virtual and in-person events, virtual cards from supporters, and a storytelling initiative highlighting the experiences of high school seniors on their journey to graduation.

“We are excited to showcase these resilient young people who have worked hard and persevered, especially in the face of challenges exacerbated by the global pandemic,” said Cecilia Lee, CIS Principal of Alumni Relations. “They have proven that nothing can stand in the way of their dreams. The future is bright for the class of 2024, and we can't wait to see all they will achieve.”

For more than 45 years, Communities In Schools has helped students build the skills and mindset necessary for post-secondary success.

The organization’s integrated student supports model is a coordinated approach to ensuring schools and students are connected to the resources they need when they need them so that they can get to the finish line. It is about helping young people navigate what is available in their communities and ensuring greater and easier access to those basic needs, mental health, tutoring, mentoring, job readiness, and other much-needed resources.

The 2024 Graduation Campaign features updates from alumni and several senior success stories including:

  • Jy'Mir: Creating a Pathway to a Bright Future
Starting his journey in second grade at Virginia Cross Elementary, Jy'Mir is one of the many students whose lives have been transformed by CIS, propelling them toward graduation and fulfilling career goals while opening doors to new opportunities along the way. Jy’Mir has received several acceptance letters from colleges throughout North Carolina and plans to focus his studies on the in-demand field of cybersecurity.
  • Bria: Finishing Strong
At risk of not finishing high school due to missed days and falling behind on credits, Bria's path took a hopeful turn when she was referred to CIS of Northwest Michigan®. Unwavering support from the organization has been instrumental in keeping Bria on track. After graduation, she dreams of attending Northwestern Michigan College to study early childhood development and eventually opening her own daycare.

Communities In Schools invites everyone to help create equitable learning environments that benefit and support all students. To learn more about CIS’ Graduation Campaign, visit https://www.communitiesinschools.org/2024-graduation-stories.
