Communities In Schools Celebrates the Class of 2024
“You are smart. You are strong. You are resilient. Now don’t stop here.”
This inspiring message from Eric Metcalf, Communities In Schools® (CIS®) Principal of Organizational Health and Performance, personifies the spirit of the Class of 2024 and our collective aspirations for each graduate’s future.
Since May, CIS has celebrated the remarkable achievements of students ready to embark on new adventures—whether that means entering the workforce, serving in the military, or pursuing higher education.
The National Office and affiliates showered students with heartfelt words of encouragement across social media and our storytelling initiative highlighted their diverse experiences, showcasing their dedication and dreams.
Affiliates across the country hosted awe-inspiring events, including CIS of Charlotte-Mecklenburg, which honored 62 seniors with scholarships, certificates, and medals during its Scholars Dinner; CIS of Atlanta’s Ignite celebration, which recognized more than 200 seniors; and CIS of Southern Nevada, which welcomed a record 269 students, staff, and alumni for its Alumni Induction.
On June 6, CIS’ National Office partnered with CIS of Memphis for its annual “Pathways to Success” graduation celebration. CIS of Memphis, celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2024, boasts an impressive 99.9 percent graduation rate, a testament to the hard work and commitment of both students and staff.
We are incredibly thankful for the unwavering support of CIS' National Office in elevating our annual Pathways to Success graduation celebration. Their partnership has played a crucial role in creating a memorable and impactful event, honoring over 125 students who have overcome barriers and achieved significant milestones.
-Teshanda Middleton, CIS of Memphis Chief Executive Officer
The event kicked off with a festive red carpet welcome featuring interviews with Racheal Shantal, a renowned social and cultural influencer. Nearly 150 graduates, their families, CIS staff and local celebrities, including Miss Tennessee Volunteer Jada Brown, attended the event. Each student left with a laptop and a trunk full of essential items to support their post-high school journey.
As we recognize these amazing graduates, we eagerly look forward to welcoming them into our Alumni Network, where they will continue to inspire and be inspired by their peers. This journey is just the beginning, and we are here for them every step of the way.
