2023 Community Matters Report

This year’s Community Matters Report summarizes our plan to scale our evidence-based model of integrated student supports (ISS) and provide greater access to resources and opportunities to students nationwide.   

At Communities In Schools® (CIS®), we know that ISS is a proven approach that helps students overcome obstacles they face and achieve success in school and in life. CIS has more than 40 years of consistent, compelling data demonstrating the positive impact at both the student- and school-wide levels.    

This year’s report details our strategic expansion of ISS, the resources we need to scale, and presents the opportunity for partners to join our efforts across the country. We are honored to announce a new fund that will re-grant multimillion-dollar investments from Ballmer Group and The Studio @ Blue Meridian to CIS local affiliates and Licensed Partners. Together, we will bring ISS to 1,000 new Title I schools over the next five years, allowing the CIS network to double its reach to 6,000 schools in 10 years.  

The evidence has never been more apparent. It’s time to scale our model and achieve our long-term goal of ensuring public education in our country works for all students. We will continue to invest in student success and call on school districts, philanthropists, and lawmakers to join us in our scaling effort to ensure every student can reach their full potential and achieve their dreams.
